GitHub project management pricing for a team of 10

GitHub Projects is free, private repos included. What Zenhub, Linear, Jira and Gitsu charge per user, and what a team of 10 pays on each.

GitHub Projects is free. GitHub Free includes Issues and Projects and unlimited private repositories, so a team of 10 pays nothing for the board. The money starts when you add a tool on top: Zenhub charges $4.99 per user per month on a yearly plan, Linear $10, and both charge for every person on the team. Gitsu, a native macOS and web client for GitHub Projects v2, is free on the web and charges only for the people who want its desktop app.

We make Gitsu, so we have a side. Every competitor price below comes from that vendor's own pricing page, checked on 29 October 2026. Gitsu's own prices come from its live catalog on the pricing page, so this page does not copy a number that could drift.

What does a team of 10 pay for GitHub project management?

A team of 10 can pay $0 on any of these tools if it fits the free plan's limits. Past those limits, the monthly bill for 10 people looks like this:

ToolFree plan for 10 peopleFree plan limitPaid plan for 10 people
GitHub Projects$0 on GitHub Free50,000 items per projectNot needed for Projects; GitHub Team is $4 per user, $40 a month
Zenhub$0 on Free1 workspace, 2 repositories, 250 issuesTeams: $49.90 a month billed yearly, or $75 billed monthly
Linear$0 on Free2 teams, 250 issuesBasic: $100 a month; Business: $160 a month, both billed yearly
Jira$0 on FreeUp to 10 users, 2 GB of storageStandard, Premium and Enterprise, priced per user by team size
Gitsu$0 on the Web App, all 10 peopleUnlimited projects; loads up to 2,000 items per projectPay only for the people who want the desktop app; see pricing

The paid figures are the per-user list price times 10. Zenhub and Linear charge for each user on the plan. Atlassian prices Jira's paid plans per user with a calculator that depends on headcount, so we leave that number to Atlassian's pricing page. A team of exactly 10 still fits Jira Free; the eleventh person moves you to a paid plan.

Zenhub and Linear sit beside GitHub, not instead of it. Your code still lives on GitHub, so add your GitHub plan to their bill. For Projects alone, GitHub Free is enough.

Is GitHub Projects free for private repositories?

Yes. GitHub's pricing page lists "Issues & Projects" on the Free plan, and the same plan reads "Unlimited public/private repositories". A project holds up to 50,000 items, counting the archive, on every plan.

GitHub Team, at $4 per user per month, and Enterprise, at $21, add things like protected branches, more Actions minutes and support. They do not unlock Projects. The free-for-private-repos guide lists what each paid GitHub plan adds and who can see a private repository's issues on a board.

How much does Zenhub cost per user?

Zenhub Teams is $4.99 per user per month billed yearly, or $7.50 per user billed monthly, on Zenhub's pricing page. For 10 people that is $49.90 a month on the yearly plan, $598.80 a year, or $75 a month billed monthly. Enterprise is quoted on request, and new accounts get a 14-day Teams trial.

The Free plan is generous on seats and tight on scope: one workspace, up to 50 users, two connected repositories and 250 issues. A team of 10 with one or two repositories and a small backlog can stay on it. Teams raises the limits to ten workspaces, 50 repositories and 5,000 issues, still with up to 50 users.

How much does Linear cost for a team of 10?

Linear Basic is $10 and Business is $16 per user per month, billed yearly, on Linear's pricing page. For 10 people that is $100 or $160 a month, $1,200 or $1,920 a year. Enterprise is custom and billed yearly only.

Linear Free costs $0 for unlimited members, with two teams and 250 issues. Basic lifts the issue cap and allows five teams. A team that hits 250 issues on Free pays for all ten people on Basic, not for the one person who wanted more room. The Linear 250-issue guide explains what happens at that limit.

What does Gitsu cost for a team of 10?

Gitsu costs $0 for all 10 people on its free Web App. Each person signs in with GitHub at dash.gitsu.app and works on the same GitHub Projects boards, with filters, keyboard controls and bulk edits. When a signed-in account has no subscription, Gitsu opens the free Web App instead of asking for payment.

A subscription adds the macOS desktop app, AI features and MCP access for coding agents. Pro covers one person. Team covers 2 to 20 Seats on one bill, and the buyer reserves each Seat for a GitHub login. The pricing page lists the two-Seat Team price and the price of each Seat after the first two, so a team where four people want the desktop app pays for four Seats, and the other six pay nothing.

Gitsu's web app showing a GitHub project as a filtered list, with 34 issues selected and a bulk-edit bar for status, priority, assignee and labels

Gitsu has limits that a cheaper bill does not fix. It loads up to 2,000 items per project and says when it stopped. It shows one project at a time. It has no sprint rollover, velocity or burndown reports and no triage inbox, and its product requirements list cross-project views, notifications and a mobile app as non-goals.

What do Zenhub, Linear and Jira do better for the money?

Each paid tool buys planning features that GitHub Projects and Gitsu do not have. Zenhub's Free plan already includes automated sprint planning, planning poker, estimates, epics, real-time roadmaps, basic sprint reports and a velocity report, according to its plan table. For a team that runs sprints on GitHub issues and fits two repositories, that is a lot for $0, and Teams at $4.99 a user is the cheapest paid planning layer here.

Linear's money buys a separate workspace with cycles, triage, projects and initiatives, and its Business plan adds private teams, guests and insights. If the whole team will plan in Linear, the per-user price pays for a tool built around that workflow. Jira's paid plans buy custom workflows, reports and a tracker that non-engineers can use without a GitHub account. If those are requirements, compare those plans on features first and on price second. Gitsu does not compete on any of them.

Which should a team of 10 pick?

Pick by what you would pay for, not by the cheapest row.

If your team of 10PickWhat it costs
Plans in sprints on GitHub issues and fits two repositoriesZenhub Free$0
Needs sprint reports across many repositoriesZenhub Teams$49.90 a month billed yearly

For a team that plans in GitHub Projects, start with the free Gitsu Web App on one board, then buy Seats only for the people who want the macOS app and coding agents. The Zenhub comparison, Linear comparison and Jira comparison cover features beyond price.
